  Usually you'll realize right away when you're dreaming. It feels really weird at first but once you get use to it it's a awesome experience. But you have to keep practicing in order to master it or lucid dream at will.

  Some tips I used when I was practicing to lucid dream I would write down every detail of my dreams the night before. Like the other comments say, create tests for yourself. Check the time or pinch yourself every now and then.

  You try to wake yourself up because you know you're asleep but your frozen and can't move. I tend to feel like I'm trapped between dream and reality and feel how rigid my body is.

  From my experiences I always end up in a dark room that looks similar to the room I fell asleep in although there are some items misplaced or distorted. It can either be deathly silent or you start to hear twisted and demonic sounding things.

  I use to have lucid dreams every other day but I can't anymore because I stopped training. It takes a lot of practice usually for you to be able to have lucid dreams. They are amazing though once you're able to control them!

  I found that when you lucid dream you have to have some kind of trigger. When I would realize I was dreaming I would close my eyes and make a wish in order for it to work.
